Sensitive routes

This information is intended to be advisory. The inclusion of any route where the status has yet to be determined does not mean you have a legal right to use it. If you are unsure please check with the highway authority.

Bamford – Long Causeway
We thank vehicle user groups for organising and respecting the voluntary closure of this route, and wish to reassure all users that we are trying our best to find a solution to the damage to this lane.  Derbyshire County Council has carried out work to repair the worst potholes. It is hoped longer-term maintenance and repair work will follow in the future. The Peak District National Park Authority is planning to improve drainage at the site to protect the repairs to the surface.

School Lane, Great Hucklow
We are very concerned that a very small group of motorbikers seem to be coinciding their use of this lane with primary school opening. Parents have a voluntary code of conduct that they will not use vehicles on this lane throughout the day due to safety issues, and we would ask all responsible users to do the same if possible. Please therefore consider avoiding the use of this lane during weekdays.
Anyone caught driving dangerously will be dealt with by the police. The lane is now being monitored and these irresponsible individuals will be caught if they continue.
Warning signs are due to be put up before the new school year starts in September 2008. Work has been carried out by rangers to protect areas where illegal use is continuing.

The Derbyshire section of this route is a public bridleway. Please do not use vehicles on this route. Considerable damage has been caused to this bridleway, which is in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Illegal use of the site is being monitoring as part our action plan to protect this site.
