Latest legal issues

Highway authorities are responsible for producing what is called the Definitive Map – this gives the legal status of routes and says who can and can’t use them. The legal right to use many of these routes has yet to be clarified. You can find out more about this at the following locations:

Routes claimed as byways open to all traffic (BOATs)

Derbyshire County Council has received claims to classify more than 100 routes as byways open to all traffic (BOATs). We have asked that the following claims are investigated urgently to determine exactly what rights exist:

Hope Woodlands
Bridleways 12, 13 and 14
Hope Woodlands paths 12, 13 and 14 map

Grindlow / Foolow
Claim to upgrade restricted byway 6 and 10

Rowland
Claim to upgrade restricted byway 6

Taddington
Claim to upgrade public footpaths 45 and 46
